I'm writing this in defense to Brian. My name is Jason. I will leave my last name anonymous due to the nature of this business. I lived in Columbia, TN from Dec. 14th, 2002 till Dec 12th, of 2003. If my memory serves me correctly it was August of 2003. I was driving home from work around 2am one night. I never realized a friend of mine put a Gay Pride sticker on the back of my car. I was pulled over around 2:45am by a Columbia P.D. Officer named Officer Phillips, and targeted due to me being gay. I asked what was I being charged with. He claimed Public Intoxication and DWI. He asked me to leave my keys in my car so his partner could drive my car to my house. I was not drunk, nor had I drank that night, and I had just left work an hour ago and was headed home. I wasn't going to start trouble and just gave in. I thought I was headed to jail. Ten minutes later I was at my house being let out of the patrol car and told to have a good night. They wrote my tag number down and I didn't have a clue at the time why. From August till December of 2003 I was constantly and repeatively harrassed by Columbia P.D. and when I moved outside of Columbia City Limits they got the Maury County Sherrifs Department involved. I finally had enough and finally moved out of Maury County for good and vowed to never return. This wasn't the first incident I had with Columbia, TN either. Legends Bar and Grill escorted me and my friends out of the bar after my daughter asked me a question to which a waitress misheard what my daughter said and took offense and called the Sherriffs Department and had us escorted out. No charges were ever filed against me on the second incident and no charges was filed on me nor my friends for the first incident. I'm just bringing this to everyone's attention that there is seriously something wrong with the judicial system of Maury County.
